The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is a premier showcases for university, local, regional, national and international art, theatre, music and dance. This state-of-the-art performing arts "village" occupies 318,00 square feet on a 17-acre site on the university's northeast end. A regional arts facility. Located adjacent to Bowie High School, the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts is the product of a unique public/private partnership. The Center will be available to all sectors of the community: public & private schools; businesses, tourists, non-profit groups, community groups; government agencies and more. Everything from a school play or opera to an off-Broadway show can be featured in one of two performance areas: the 800-seat auditorium or 150-seat Bowie Blade-News Recital Hall/Community Room.
